The Summit Drive

The Summit Drive, the last touristic drive in province of Québec, connects the highest mountains in southeast Quebec, forming a horseshoe between the southwest (La Patrie) and the northwest (Stratford). The summits define this magnificent scenery distinguished by 360° panoramas of endless mountain chains, majestic lakes and lost country roads. The 157 km long Summit Drive crosses 15 municipalities and invites you to take off for the discovery of a region where nature abounds, where history has left its discrete and fascinating trace, where a multitude of stars reveal themselves and where time takes on a different rhythm. Along the tour route in spring, summer and fall, outdoor lovers will find themselves in the ideal place for countless activities, such as hiking, kayaking, canoeing, cycling, fishing, equitation and the discovery of wildlife, geology, starry skies… just to name a few!

The Mégantic region

Populated from the late 19th century by Anglo-Saxons and later by French Canadians, the Mégantic region is located in the Eastern Townships, right by the border of Maine and
near Beauce. Mégantic, which means " place where fishes are held " in native American language (Abénakis) offers an exceptional natural environment and is not far from big city centres. The MRC du Granit territory covers 2 733 km2 and contains more than 22 000 inhabitants.

Its population benefits from a remarkable quality of life in a lovely natural landscape. The regional economy depends on manufacturing, especially that related to the production of wood, clothing and granite.
